On January 31, 12-year-old Kyan Pennell was killed in a freak farm accident in Queensland. Kyan had Asperger’s and ADHD. His passion was the piano and classical music. He had taught himself many pieces, mainly through watching YouTube although he had been having lessons for seven months. He had scraped and saved to buy his own piano.
His mother hadn’t realised that he could write music but found part of a composition in a notebook after his death. She shared a video of the music on social media and, to cut a long story short, the principal cellist of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra was inspired to complete the song. Aided by his fellow musicians, it was then arranged for a larger group and the completed piece was played by members of the orchestra at his funeral.
The photo is of our own piano which was manufactured sometime in the 1890s.

@JudyEv I was pleasantly surprised when I moved ours (which is the same age as yours). Specialist piano removal businesses quoted eye-watering sums, but when I asked a regular removal business they were much cheaper and they seemed to have no trouble just picking it up!

@Fleura Our friends had a full-size, very heavy billiard table which had to be moved but there was a company which specialised in this and it was not trouble at all to them. Maybe it's like dry-cleaning. Say it's a bridal gown and it will cost the earth to have it cleaned but if you can get away with calling it a ballgown it will be much cheaper.

I always wanted a piano. Was very disappointed when I got one of those 12-note plinky things shaped like a grand piano for Christmas when I was little.

@JudyEv I managed to teach myself a little piano but haven't had the opportunity to keep it up.

@BarBaraPrz My mother would have loved to keep up her lessons but it wasn't to be. But she had me taught and I ended up teaching piano.

What a sad story of a promising life cut short. We will never know what he could have produced. I found a video of the music being performed
