Kendare Blake is one of my friends favorite authors. She wrote the Three Dark Crowns series that has been a hit. Now Blake delves into one of my absolutely favorite worlds, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Instead of creating a whole new story line as some books tend to do, Blake picked up the plot from the time Sunnydale became a crator. Willow and Oz are back in New Sunnydale and things have changed. Willow has a daughter and is a single mother. Oz is raising his cousin who still wolfs out during the full moon. There is a lot of flirting between Willow and Oz but she is still gay. You may think they will get back together in the book but I'll let you down now, they don't and it sort of breaks your heart. Frankie is Willow's daughter and she was raised with the rest of the Scoobies from the original show. They are all her aunts and uncles. She's an eco-witch but not a very good one. She can barely do the simplest spell and she feels horrible most of the time because her mother was the most powerful witch ever and she can't do the simplest thing. Not that her mom does magic at all anymore because she's worried about going dark again. Jake is Oz's cousin and a lacrosse player at New Sunnydale High. Also he's Frankie's best friend. They were practically raised together and he was over her house more than he was ever home anyway. Hailey lives with her sister since her mother died years ago. They live in the middle of nowhere and they're fine with that. Vi makes sure they're safe and that Hailey is her best kept secret. It's better that way when you're a slayer. Now that all of the Slayers are activated, Buffy and Faith have arranged for a new Watcher's Council and they have "retreats." These retreats are trainings and get togethers for major news sharing. They aren't your normal retreats for relaxing and having fun. They were all so careful when it came to these retreats. The last thing Willow had ever expected was a call from Xander saying that, of all things, there was an explosion and all of the Slayers were wiped out. With that news, Frankie started getting supernatural strength and speed. Spike brought Hailey to Sunnydale until they could figure out what's going on. Willow brings in a friend's son to help them put the pieces of the puzzle together. Together these four kids make up the new Scooby gang in Sunnydale. It's so surreal to see how they work together like the original scoobies and yet they were just tossed together. It was just in time. The Hellmouth is reawakening. There's a new big bad drawn to it. Then you have a demon stalking Frankie for reasons you just can't make out. Frankie is the slayer and she still hasn't come to terms with what that means as she's just tossed into the fray. Add in regular high school drama and it's just like watching the show again just with the next generation. I absolutely loved this book. It held true to the show and it explained where it was in everything, how it all happened. I'm hoping there's a second one because I would love to know what happened to the Slayers. It's the one issue they never completely resolve. For every answer they find, another five questions pop up. If you were a fan of the show, the old books or the comics, I would totally read this book. I got both of my Buffy friends on it already just after reading a few chapters of it. *picture from google

I've never seen or read any Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I've watched Interview With The Vampire and Queen of the Damned, another Vampire Lestat film and I've read the book Queen of the Damned. They are very good. Lestat is my favourite vampire!

I've been obsessed with Buffy since I was a kid. It was how my best friend and I bonded and what we still go back to till this day. Buffy will always hold a special place in my heart so to see her do well with this book was amazing.
