I Saved $60 Last Night

Not every Friday, but some Fridays the wife and I will decide to order Chinese or a Pizza for delivery. After a week of cooking it is just a nice little break. Plus we like it of course.
Last night I asked if the wife wanted Chinese. The second option was a simple meal of hot dogs with a couple of sides. Then she asked what about scrambled eggs with hot dogs.
Voila! Consider it done.
So, I whipped up a batch of scrambled eggs with hot dogs, onions, yellow pepper, and cheddar cheese.
It was cheap and good and so it saved me $60 last night, the amount we likely would have spent on Chinese food.

@Tina30219 I even like to make a dish with some of the leftover fried rice with kielbasa and that red sauce they always give us. It is sweet and yummy.
So, it all goes quite far.

Did you put the scrambled eggs on top of the hot dogs or were the hot dogs inside the scrambled eggs, just without the bun?

@porwest to me the term hotdog means the bun with the sausage inside, whether it’s a Frank, a bratwurst, etc.

@lovebuglena Technically speaking the hot dog is just the wiener itself. To me a bratwurst is a bratwurst, a Polish sausage is a Polish sausage, an Italian sausage is an Italian sausage. It is actually funny when I think of it because I will likely say "I am having a brat on a bun," but if I do that with a hot dog I just say I am having a hot dog. lol

I don't mind the occasional treat, especially since you know, you work so hard for your money you have to have a little reward every once in a while. But I also like keeping some of that hard earned money in my pocket as well, and this dinner turned out just as good.

Considering the hot dogs cost me about 47 cents, the eggs cost me around 83 cents, the onions cost 20 cents, the shredded cheese around 60 cents, the butter about 19 cents and the yellow pepper about 99 cents, the whole meal was done for about $3.28. I would call that a win.

I mostly cook at home. I like good food and it is too expensive for me to buy it at a restaurant except for occations.
