Earlier today I was catching up on my notifications and a comment from Sharon was interesting. We were chatting about spam calls when Sharon replied that her mother answered spam calls by blowing a whistle. I told Sharon that I didn’t have a whistle but I could sing them a song.
So I got off Mylot and fixed my lunch . When I finished eating my phone rang , sure enough it was spam. I thought about what Sharon had said about the whistle and I thought, why not.
I picked up the phone and started singing. Nobody said a word so I sang until I thought they’d hung up. As I started to hang up a voice said, you have a beautiful voice, I was shocked but I asked , what do you want? She said, I’m from so and so loan company and I’m ready to arrange a loan for you.
I started singing again and after a little while she hung up. I decided Sharons mother is right. It’s fun to play with spam callers.

@Hannihar She was probably trying to sell insurance or some sort of merchandise. These call centers pay employees to man these phones They sell all sorts of products. They call as many people as possible every day. It’s a hard job. That’s why I usually ignore them and let them get to their next call. It was mean of me to do what I did. I was just tired of the phone ringing all day.

She said you have a good or beautiful voice I thought and I wonder why she hung up the 2nd time when you sang because the first time you started to sing she liked your voice. I hope she never calls you again. There are all kinds of crazies out there and not just on the phone.

I have never thought on singing to a person who is on the phone trying to sell me junk I do not need. Maybe I could sing to the spam operator the Beatles song "I Wanna Hold Your Hand."

@RubyHawk I am sure that young kids are not familiar with them like I am nor familiar with their favorite artists.

@Deepizzaguy no they wouldn’t know. I seldom hear a Beatles song anymore.

I've taken to lecturing those who try to sell me what I already have. I find that interesting all the same.

@RubyHawk I have a spam blocker that cuts 99 percent of the spam calls down. However, with my husband's line of work, I have to answer. Especially on days he's at work.

@kaylachan My sons afraid I’ll miss an important call by not answering and I did once out of dozens of calls.

Fortunately I never get spam calls, just spam text and emails. I always love how JJ deals with those scammers. So when he takes a video of himself talking to spammers and would post it, I would usually watch it.

@RubyHawk Guess I am. Don't know how I'd deal with spam calls.

@toniganzon I used to answer every call because I didn’t know who might be calling but since the word spam flashes I know it isn’t anyone I want to talk to.

Every time I hear about this sort of thing it just makes me WANT a SPAM call, but then one never comes. lol. Here's JJ at one of his calls—he's worth subscribing to just for some of these alone. lol

When I have the time I answer, but just let the background noise entertain them. For instance I will hold the phone up to a fan, etc.

Actually that would do me no good since most of these calls I get is automated and so it would not deter them at all.

I do accent. I won't say which ones. But I should try singing. Congratulations on having a nice voice. Maybe you, Sojourner, NotBiden (he and I get along even though he's an arch Conservative) and I could start a choir. JJ could be our engineer.

@sathviksouvik But it’s a little strange I haven’t had a spam call today and I usually have a bunch.

JJ plays with spam callers too. Might as well have fun because they're going to keep on calling!

Anything that gets them off the line is good, or even better, don't pick up in the first place. If it is something real, they will leave a message.
