I was reminded about these pretty flowers last week when Carol mentioned them in a post. I commented that there is a yellow flower that I keep seeing here in cow pastures and I have been calling them cow flowers. Last week my husband told me the flowers were blooming around the mailbox. The only flowers I have had in recent years around the mailbox were wild morning glories. So I went out to see what he was talking about. He has taken on the walk to the mailbox here lately so I was totally clueless. I was happy to see that the flowers were daffodils and this is the same flower I see in cow pastures. Now I plan on digging them up and moving them into my yard. Do you have wild daffodils growing in your area? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

Oh they were daffodils! That is great. They will grow anywhere. I have them in my yard now. The first to bloom every year in February.

Yes!! I guess they get good fertilization in the cow pastures I'll get these dug up after it warms up on Monday. The ground should be soft too after the rain this weekend.

@kareng I agree that they are beautiful in the natural setting. I remember when I was a little girl in school, that we came with our teachers on weekends to pick up the daffodils around Easter time. I brought large bouquets of them to my Mom.

Uhm... daffodils aren't native to the US. Any you see growing "wild" have probably been planted there around an old house or the bulbs tossed when someone was thinning the daffodils around their home. (People "naturalize" daffodils all the time around here. Years ago Pretty and I dug up some that were growing in a ditch and replanted them at our house.)

@wolfgirl569 We got more rain at dusk. It has been a fine mist for the last couple of hours but supposed to be another good rain at any minute. They said 11 pm but it is a few minutes late. Ha!

Still pretty!! I just find it amazing that they are popping up in cow pastures around here. I guess all thanks to the wind blowing seed around.
