Dorothea Puente was arrested in 1988 after her backyard was dug up and seven bodies were found. She was a boarding house operator who killed her tenants beginning in 1982. All of the tenants were seniors and had some medical issues. She would become the payee of her borders and then after killing them and burying them in the backyard continue to use their benefit checks.
She was found guilty of only three of the seven seniors uncovered. She was sentenced to life in prison. Puente died in prison at Chowchilla on March 27, 2011, from natural causes; she was 82.
She had started her life of crime stealing from department stores. She had been a prostitute and a madam and pretended to be a nurse and help women in need only to poison them and steal their belongings. She was on parole when she was arrested for the murders. She had done five years in prison for theft.
The houses around the country that have housed such atrocities and horrors are usually torn down but because this one in Sacramento, California was a historical building built in 1890 it could not be destroyed.

I was an interesting one. It's 1426 F Street in Sacramento, California. You can see photos here:

Sure is. And I bet her neighbors had no idea. Well, one did but said nothing until after the fact.

Yes, she did. And just kept getting bolder and bolder. Such is the case with most serial killers.
