Does anyone know what this is?

A plant growing in my yard but I do not know what it is

When I first saw this plant it looked as if it might be a hollyhock plant. It's been growing since last summer and now it has a bud or something that looks like it might bloom anytime soon. I haven't a clue what the dern thing is, do you? EDIT The image above is actually a GIF I created but the MYLOT system kept kicking it out, dangit. This video made me laugh so I wanted you to have the chance to either giggle or laugh.

I really haven't a clue. Let us know when you find out. Does it smell minty? Maybe it's wild mint?

No, it's not mint as it's leaves are way too big.

I thought it might be a hollyhock but doesn't have the typical stalk. A gourd maybe?

I hope it is, it would seem that Mallow is edible and I like the idea of edible plants.

Yes, they're about the same size as what you'd find on a Hollyhock but not as fuzzy.

@rebelann I think the leaves on your plant are much bigger than those on mallow weed.

I looked up the mallow plants and read that they are in the same family with hollyhocks, if so then I will love this plant.

@rebelann Sometimes the bloom gives a better idea which plant it is. I am sure I have seen those leaves, but I cannot remember.

I am not sure. At first I guessed it to be wild mint but the leaves are too big. The texture does look like some gourd. Hope it's not poisonous.

@rebelann You should not try it unless you confirm it. Many plants can be misleading and even may be poisonous.

I don't know what it might be, but before you eat it or anything, take it to your produce dept of store, where you usually shop and ask if they know what this plant is, be sure about it.
