Latest Roadblock in Life: Attempted Break-In

I haven't been able to catch 100% up here on myLot since before the Farmer's Market last weekend. Life seems to be throwing obstacles and giving us things to do that we haven't planned on doing.
After finishing up at the boutique on Wednesday, I rode by our house in Louisiana to check on things. I noticed that there was something all in the driveway that looked like cement. It turned out to be a ceramic frog that one of my daughters left in the flower bed on the side of the house. Next I got out and went under the carport to see a huge wrench on the ground, a pole and the door knob and deadbolt all beaten to death--but they did not get in. I went around the house and did not see any busted windows, but did find a fire extinguisher that we had under the carport on the sidewalk in front of the front door.
I took pictures and sent them to my husband who told me to go ahead and call the sheriff's department and get a report done. I was tired but called and waited for the deputy to arrive. I told him I did not try to go inside since I was there by myself. He went with me to the door to check out the inside. Well I got the door knob open but not the deadbolt. I didn't have the key to the front door with me. So he then went around the house to make sure nobody had gotten inside.
I thanked him for his response and got his card so that we can get the report and headed home. My husband was not happy and made plans to go replace the door knob and deadbolt.
That is the lasted in our unexpected happening around here. This is the second uncontrolled thing in a matter of days, so I'm wondering what is the third thing? You know the old saying, "Things always come in 3's?"
Have you had a streak of bad luck lately?

Interesting that you posted this when you did…my Facebook memories informed me that 11 years ago today my house was broken into. I wasn’t as fortunate as you, as the thieves were able to get in and stole literally everything in my house. But glad to hear your house didn’t get trashed beyond the doorknob and deadbolt.

@moffittjc Yes, I think it is time to get started on it! I'm sorry you lost everything to a thief. That must have been awful!

@kareng That would have been the ultimate payback for that criminal, to spend all that time and effort breaking in, only to find that there was nothing in the house.
Hopefully everything gets fixed so you can sell it.

I'm sorry about the attempted break-in. Thieves broke into our empty rental at least 3 times in the past 2 years. They stole everything of value. I hope nothing else happens to you.

My work has been broken into/robbed twice in the last week, so I understand the bad luck.

That sounds terrible! I wonder what scared them away? Something had to have happened to make them stop trying to get inside.
Nope, nothing bad has happened here lately. I'm not saying bad things don't happen just nothing too bad lately. Unless you want to count all the plants trying to kill me with their pollen.

@kareng Maybe she was too exhausted minding everybody else's business instead of her own.

@DaddyEvil This lady always knew who was pulling in OUR driveway before we did. If some of hubby's friends, she would run put on bathing suit or short shorts and head outside and show off. She was a *lutt.
