One More Point About "The SLap"

I just wanted to add a thought about the slap at the Oscars between Chris Rock and Will Smith. Sure Will shouldn't have slapped him. Sure Chris shouldn't have said those things. (Again, this wasn't the first time he had made such comments) I think it was a wash. Neither should be ostracized, but I hope Chris learned something from what transpired. I don't think Will is the macho-type and doesn't usually resort to violence but, I think he had had enough. I think it is like the motherly instinct in women to protect their young. Men protect their families. I think it should be said to be a wash.

If I were in a similar situation I would like my husband to do just what Will did.

@celticeagle So would I. If my husband didn’t stand up for me I’d be very disappointed.

The only thing I know about these two celebrity actors is that they are celebrity actors. Who knows their reasonings and whys and the biggest question of all, why should I care? I have enough going on in my world they can keep their drama, I just don't care.

I have known of Will for many years and he is a nice person. Chris, I have heard his stuff before and he isn't so nice.

Exactly. One time - okay maybe but twice and at a classy occasion was uncalled for. Chris made that choice and he paid for it.

@celticeagle - Chris already joked about that, rude, but once is fine. Second time during a classy event was inappropriate and more than rude. What was the message to Will Smith's wife? "You have no more hair, you are no more pretty"... he had what he deserved.

If Will is the 'macho-type' Chris certainly didn't look like he was hurting or lost a tooth or was bleeding or even put his hand up to
his jaw!!

No, it shouldn't have. How 'classy' was it to make fun of a person at a classy affair?

No, Will shouldn't have slapped but Chris was wrong making fun. It is never OK to make fun of someone. It's amazing the people defending him saying he's a comedian and that makes it OK. No, it's not. I don't think WIll should be in trouble and not Chris. If one, then the other. Will apologized but Chris should be stepping up as well. Never liked his comedy style. It falls near bullying. Making fun of people is never OK.

All you have spoken about is why I say it is a wash. Neither man is right in what they did but, Will was defending his wife. I give him points for that. Chris was pushing his career forward, I don't think he deserves a thing. Yes, Chris should step forward and apologize.

I think Will should have voiced his displeasure after the ceremonies were over and not resorted to slapping Rock. He could have been charged with assault.

Could have been but, as Will said, "Love makes you do crazy things."
