Today's Journey

Today I had my annual physical scheduled at my doctor's office. I had to make an appointment to get my medications refilled. Such hogwash!! I managed to get an appointment the following day which is a miracle. I also snagged the first appointment after lunch, which meant no waiting! I was sent down to the lab for the complete works. I was glad that I had fasted because I knew the doctor would send me down. It doesn't bother me to go that long without food. I drink water and my doctor is fine with me having a cup of coffee since I do not use any sugar in it. I didn't even have my coffee this morning. I also had to schedule a test and waiting on another one to be done. I also have to make an appointment with the dermatologist. Fun, fun. What can I say? Also, before I got home, I got some of my results back. I apparently had a UTI and I didn't even know it. So I stopped and got my antibiotic on the way home. I did have some good news and that was that my weight was down 7lbs since my December visit to the specialist. That was my day, how was yours? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

I am sorry for your UTI, at least it was not annoying enough to notice. Congratulations on your weight loss.

It is kind of scary that I didn't notice since I have UT infections often. My doctor knows that when I call and say I have one that I need an antibiotic. It worried me when he said this was a pretty bad infection. And I was clueless this time

@kareng I had UTI in the past and you feel that you are not well, very strange that you did not notice.

Oh no! I used to be very allergic to the golden rods blooming. I am glad there are not many around here. They used to grow in a field at my high school and the windows were always opened in the afternoon. Misery!!!

@DaddyEvil I can really sympathize. I have allergies to many things, mostly chemical related. Allergic to a few meds, and kitties. For some reason dogs don't bother me, and baby kittens don't, but when they get a bit older it always starts up. Makes me mad, I like kitties. Spring is hard on my allergies, but the fall is beyond terrible. Harvest, clouds of corn and wheat and bean dust on highway drives from town to town, etc. Doesn't ease up until it gets really, really cold. No wonder I like winter, LOL!

I did and feel groggy and light headed today. I am hoping that the feeling wears off. Yes, on the weight loss! Hoping to keep that number going down.

I had some tests done recently to check for diabetes. They called the day before and said to prepare for a urine test first thing in the am. I studied all night. Took notes and felt ready for the test. Boy was I surprised. You lost your holiday weight already? Good for you!

@Vikingswest1 I admit that I have eaten more candy this year than normal. That Easter candy usually doesn't tempt me, but I have enjoyed a couple of the small bunnies filled with caramel this year. I am sure I'll get another one at least before Easter!!

I have to do that too. Go see them just to get things renewed. But it sounds like it was good timing for you. You caught the infection early it sounds like.

Well today I feel like crap. I'm dizzy, light headed and very tired. It could be the antibiotic. I just hope it doesn't send me to throwing up like a lot of antibiotics do. I got a new medicine this time. It usually takes at least two different medicines to knock them out.

Over the years I have come to simply hate going to the doctor. I mean, I just hate it and I should be used to it. So much of everything, tests, opinions, treatments, meds, and on and on until you think, didn't I just have this done? You want me to do WHAT? You want to look WHERE? You want to stick that thing THERE? Yes, I go, but I hate it just the same. Glad you had weight loss if you were striving for that, but sorry about UTI, often they can get very painful.

@MarieCoyle Right, probably doing more harm with having them not clear up an infection by how many they have to give me.

I agree! I have had chronic UTI's and will be heading to urologists I am sure when this comes right back after antibiotic. It always takes multiple rounds of medication to knock it out of me.

@kareng If the would just prescribe one good strong antibiotic rather than endless wimpy ones it would be nice, but they don't.

This reminds me, I have to get an appointment for a shingles shot. A couple of the ladies at church have been saying I should, as they've both had shingles and said it was awful.

Glad everything turned out okay and that they caught your UTI before it got bothersome. 7 lbs is a big thumbs up!

Me too! I am just a bit worried that I didn't notice. I am going to be cutting out and down on candy...hey, Easter is almost here so after Easter, no more candy as often. I am also going to tweak the diet a bit more. I want to get at least another 10 lbs. off.

Nobody diagnoses anything these days except through blood tests. That's how it seems to me anyway. And that's a pretty good weight loss! 7 lbs. I wouldn't mind losing that much.

Crossing fingers that this medicine knocks it out. That will be the first time in a long time that one medication clears it up. I'm sure I'll be off to urologist to find out why I get so many recurring infections.

Recently the sister of my closest friend also got a UTI. Her doctor said the girl was holding her pee too long, but she argued that she couldn't be away from her laptop during class since the teacher wouldn't like it (which I found ridiculous). Would the teacher be responsible for paying her medical bills? I don't think so. That's why I think it was ridiculous. Luckily, she was able to recover fast.

Oh wow. I would suggest a note from her doctor saying she needs frequent restroom breaks and it is medically necessary. That should clear her for going to the restroom when she needs to.
