I was going to write about the hand specialist, but the power went out at about 5:30 p.m. It was back on quickly, but not the internet. The hand clinic prides itself on staying on schedule. We actually were a little early, because we plan that way for a new doctor. Part of the interstate was closed, so it turned into an adventure to get there for our first time. What it boils down to is that there were 14 x-rays taken of my wrists and elbows. Not really of use diagnosing carpal tunnel, but useful to rule out any breaks, arthritis, etc. Doc. wondered why they did such limited nerve conduction on just my right arm. What he can tell is that on that right arm I have probably one of the worst levels of carpal tunnel, plus an ulnar compression. Yes, arthritis in my thumbs. He seems to have a really conservative approach, and at this appointment I was instructed in a different way to use my topical pain relief cream. He says "like a professional athlete" apply first thing in the morning, and after lunch--to heat it up in the daytime. Do not use it at bed time.Let it cool down. I will go back during Easter break to see if that is improving matters. So that is all I know for now. Good Wednesday morning to all.
