Stealing Bees?

Last year about 600 beehives were stolen in the Northern California area. This is where almonds trees are located and this means a possible loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The thieves can then rent or sell outright these hives.
Thirty percent of all food we eat here in the U.S. is pollinated by bees. Even the meat availability is contingent on bee pollination because the alfalfa cows eat has to be pollinated.
The food industry that has lost beehives due to thievery usually has a mark on the bottom of the beehive but this is not always the case. They are thinking of using invisible ink, GPS trackers, and even video cameras in the future.

You should do some research and post about it.

Seems like it and we can't let them. We have to be diligent and aware.

@celticeagle I live in what you´d call a nice neighborhood. Two years ago, in two months, my house was burglarised twice. They took ALL. Now I hace an alarm, my fence went up and I got Luna. I don´t think that Luna would do any harm to the burglars but I hope that they are afraid of her.

That is the craziest thing I have ever heard and I would say I wish those bees would sting up those thieves so bad they would never look at another bee

That would be great. They do have to know how to manage bees.

This is terrible. I hope there is a solution to these thefts.

The invisible ink and/or GPS trackers will help to identify their hives.

How about inventing robot bees.
This way you have 100% control of these bees.

Anytime there is something of value, someone will find a way to profit from it by stealing it.
