Enjoying some sunshine on a stem

daffodil

The various daffodils are beginning to bloom around the yard. Some have this traditional look and others are bushy lion's head type things. I am not sure of the difference in daffodils, jonquils and narcissus, but they are all related one way or another. I look it up every year, and every year I forget. They certainly are pretty and cheerful though.

Daffodils are like small suns I think. Do you expect lots more?

Yellow blooms are so cheerful for springtime. I wish I could grow those here but it's too dry here for most pretty flowers.

They are all bloomed and gone here. They bloom in February. I like that, sunshine on a stem.

Daffodil are generally barely scented while jonquils are very perfumed. Both jonquils and daffodils are classed as "narcissus".

I had never heard that about the fragrance. I look it up every year and then promptly forget it.
