My little heater has gone for scrap.

A few nights ago when I went into my bedroom to watch Doctor Who before going to bed, it was a bit cold so I tried to put my heater on and found that the buttons had sunk down! You could get to the buttons, and you could just about push them down to turn on the heater, but they had definitely slipped. They are on a kind of disc, and so if the disc slips, all the buttons go with it.
I managed to put it on while watching Doctor Who, but when I switched it off again I decided not to touch it again.
The following morning I told my Mum that I think I need a new heater! I told her exactly what had happened and how the buttons had slipped down.
Later on I actually went and fetched the heater for her to see, and showed her how the buttons had slipped. She said, so the buttons should be higher up. I said, yeah, they should be up here, and I indicated where they should be at the top of the casing.
My Mum said, you might be able to get it fixed, but it might cost more than getting a new heater. So I went and put the heater at the bottom of the drive for the rag and bone man to pick up.
When I went to bed that night, the heater was still sticking up at the end of the drive. But when I got up the following morning and got my breakfast, I saw that it had gone. I told my Mum, and she said, yeah, she'd seen a van stop at the end of the drive early this morning and when he'd gone, so had the heater, and the scrap that someone over the road had put out.
That was a few days ago now.
So now I need a new heater.

Is it very cold in your house then?

We do have central heating, but my bedroom is the coldest room in the house, because the bit under my window isn't brick, it's just plasterboard!

@dodo19 Yes, hopefully. I'd like to be able to get one like my old one but I don't know if they make them any more. It was rather old. I've had it over 10 years. I don't know exactly how long I've had it.

I'll get one as soon as possible! For the moment I'm wrapping up well in a warm cardigan while watching Doctor Who before going to bed! My bedroom is the coldest room in the house, due to the part underneath the window being panelboard rather than brick! I know! @sharonelton (30756)

Yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I just have to find myself a new heater now.
