Are you watching American Idol?

I can't tell you how many years ago we watched American Idol when it first started.
But then my cousin's daughter Kaylin Roberson was on it this season, so we started watching again.
She didn't make it through to the show stoppers, but we've just kept watching anyway.
Are these people aliens? Maybe we are?
There are some talented folks, but when a well known artist appears and all the contestants are going, "Oh my!!! It's Bebe somebody!!! I can't believe she's here!!!" And I'm thinking, who the heck is Bebe somebody.
Then when the contestant tells what song they'll be performing, everyone's going,"Oh, I love that song, it's such a classic and such a big hit."
Again, I've never even heard that song. Or that artist.
I know, we're old. This show just really isn't my favorite. There's one young fella on there who plays a guitar, is from the south, and has a baby boy. I briefly considered voting for him.
But it wasn't worth the effort.
Wish Kaylin had gotten through and was still competing.

@58lordstreet I know what you're saying. I've been a fairly good singer, but I'm not an entertainer. Too self conscious.

I stopped watching it because I don't like the over the top judges comments most of the time, and Katie Perry should stick to singing, not being a diva.

I guess they think they need to seem like the world's greatest experts on musical talent.

I don't care for most of them either. If my cousin's daughter hadn't been on there, we'd never have watched it.

The local TV broadcast company bought the license more than a decade ago, and since then, we have what we call the "Indonesian Idol." I used to watch it when I was a kid, but I stopped since they aired the third season. They still have it now, and even hold the competition yearly, but I guess I'm just not interested in it anymore

Thanks! I keep wondering why we watch it. But we do fast forward through a lot of it.

I haven't watched in several seasons. I don't know the music anymore or the musical artists, just as you said. I just lost interest in it.
