Here Comes Thunderstorms & Tornadoes Again

You can see the map showing the severe weather outlook for today. I am just to the right of the red area. I read earlier that tornadoes have hit parts of Texas this morning. At least 23 people are injured after a tornado ripped through part of central Texas and caused significant damage. The tornado struck Salado, Texas, in Bell County, around 50 miles northeast of Austin. "There's not much left. Large trees are uprooted and overturned and stripped. Buildings really reduced to rubble in many locations. Power lines, power poles, are scattered all over the place. It's pretty devastating," Bell County Judge David Blackburn said. Blackburn said that 12 of those injured were transported to hospitals and one person was critically injured, but that he believed everyone was accounted for. Many homes were damaged or destroyed, according to police in Salado. Thoughts are with these families and all others in the path of these storms. Story and image courtesy of weather.com.

I hate this time of year. Spring and summer mean tornadoes, and I hate them.

I certainly feel bad for everyone affected by the tornado. I've been seeing snippets of bad weather in your area and Texas and also blizzards affecting the higher parts of the US I hope you stay safe and you don't get any tornadoes

Yeah, we were supposed to get some real doozies here yesterday. They were expected to be bad enough that Scott Air Force base sent their troops home, and even my wife's hospital she works at were sent home—she is in the pharmacy. But it turned out to be nothing thankfully. Lots of rain, some thunder, but nothing severe.

@CarolDM That is always one of the worst parts. We sometimes take for granted that our homes are "secure." Lots of memories get lost in these events as well.

That sounds like the area lots of people call tornado ally, well, here in TX anyway. I'm just glad that where I live there hasn't been a tornado in 62 years, of course I haven't a clue if there ever was one before 1959.

Yes you are totally right about that. Living up to its name this year, in this area too. I am pretty sure there were tornadoes before 1959. Too many now for sure. I hope we only get rain tonight. No storms allowed here.

Our storms are done. Tornado in the east end of town, but it was okay where I live. Hope you’re well, too.

@CarolDM — I was so busy watching our coverage that I lost track of what was going on everywhere else. I did eventually see that there was a warning in Murfreesboro.

We had thunder storms here in my city last night but nothing much has been damaged only that electric power failed for about 4 hours. Hope the people out there do not lose much in the tornado.

It's been a rough time weather-wise for the south; and I hope everyone that was injured will be OK. We have been lucky. Just some gusty winds and rain. Stay safe and sound.
