The Seed Store

So about 30 minutes away from the Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead and museum (which I wrote about in a previous post) is a place called The Seed Store. The LIW place was in the middle of nowhere, but The Seed Store was even further away from civilization than that! The LIW museum was an hour away from Branson, and luckily, the store was close to the museum. My friend (in the picture) had heard about this store, and really wanted to go. I thought her GPS had taken us into a world unseen by man or woman - that's how secluded this place was. She kept assuring me it was far into the country, but this was beyond. Finally, we came onto this gravel lot, with a huge wood building to greet us. We walked around a man with a saw, and there were things planted as far as the eye could see. There was a run down looking restaurant closed for repairs, and a smaller wooden structure, which finally turned out to be The Seed Store. My friend really wants to homestead, and is growing so much of her own food. She spent $75 on seeds, and if you know how inexpensive seeds are, you know $75 is a lot. I bought elderberry syrup for a friend who loves the stuff, but otherwise I just enjoyed the fact that my friend was so happy. The picture is of my friend standing in front of the first thing we saw when we pulled up.

That is a lot for seeds but if the seeds all grew your friend will be very happy.

it does look a bit scary and wild. but I know how interesting those places can be. John took me to a few of those.

Here is another picture. It looked like an abandoned town.

I must read your post about Laura Ingalls Wilder …I loved The little house on the prairie and it was quite a while before I knew she was a real person.
