"The Girl is Mine" was released in 1982 and was written by Michael Jackson and recorded by Jackson and Paul McCartney. Jackson wrote the song as he was watching cartoons with McCartney.
Producer Quincy Jones had asked Michael to write a song about two men fighting over a girl:
"The girl is mine
The doggone girl is mine.
Don't waste your time
Because the doggone girl is mine."
The song was certified Gold and was #1 on the US R&B Singles Chart and the US Adult Contemporary Chart.

I tend to like the other song they did together much better. This one is a little too….I don’t know….bland for me.
But I played and I’ll be back tomorrow.
