Boris Johnson sick Rwandan policy may actually work, sadly.

The United Kingdom Government are threatening to send asylum seekers coming across the English Channel to Rwanda to be processed, at great cost to the taxpayer. If successful they may have to stay in Rwanda, a one-way ticket. Its a pretty sick thing to do but we are expecting 75,000 plus people to attempt the illegal Channel Crossing this year and rising. It was less than 300 that made the trip in 2018.
The main reason for the announcement on the policy was to deflect from Boris Johnson's domestic woes around 'Partygate', him and his team breaking lockdown laws they wrote by partying in Downing Street during the lockdown, But something has to be done and these Rwanda messages and test policy may well stem the Channel flow as its designed to break the people traffickers business model. Who is going to pay 6 grand to go to Central Africa? The accusation by the right is most asylum seekers are, in fact, economic migrants, young men looking to work abroad, or sons getting a foothold for their families back home to bring over later. If the numbers drop dramatically in The Channel in the summer as the policy begins then that may actually be partly true. They will stop leaving France and so France will have to copy the UK policy and so Italy will copy France and so on.
The left are very angry about this policy, no surprise, but the type of the left screaming loudest have no answers to the issue and generally they dont want asylum seekers and refugees living in their streets to bring down the house prices. They want them shipped up north, what happens, dumped on poor people who also dont want them, often second generation immigrants,
