Recently I got my house painted both exterior and interior. The company advised me to use weather coat paints which would last for 10 years, but just after a month the paints in the exterior boundary wall started peeling off. When I informed the company they brought their equipment and said that moisture from underground of road was causing this damage. The remedy they suggested was pretty costly. I have already spent lakhs of rupees in painting. The remedy they suggested may damage my boundary wall bricks. This is just ridiculous. I have given them negative comments on facebook and now the company is accusing me of purchasing duplicate paint. I shall never give them orders anymore. I shall rather get wall tiles fitted in my exterior walls which will be a permanent solution. What's your opinion? Please share.

If the moisture from underground was causing the damage it's not really the companies fault. Did they tell you to put a damp course in?

They had used the anti damp putty before painting. The company officials say that since it's plastic paint the walls can't breathe and therefore the underground moisture is peeling off the paint. To stop this I the bricks have to be painted with a chemical of their company for which you have remove the plaster. Now this is ridiculous. If the bricks break while removing the old plaster that would be another problem.

That is sad, I would have it checked if moisture is causing this.

@popciclecold There's only one good solution is to fix wall tiles. Scraping the plaster at this stage may damage the bricks.

The company had checked the moisture level before painting which was very low. How did this moisture go above normal in this summer is strange.
