Received Alarming Phone Call

A couple of days ago, I received a call from an estranged family member. I will leave that part alone for now. There is a long story. But she had a stroke and now has a blood clot in her brain. And a long history of migraines.
When she was admitted they did what is called a clot buster through her groin but could not reach the blood clot.
They have also done four spinal taps so far and cannot get any spinal fluid. They need to test the fluid for any infection, multiple sclerosis, etc. Today they are sedating her to go deeper into her spine to collect the spinal fluid.
Once this diagnosis is made, they will decide how to go forward. Thoughts are with her, no matter the history.

My prayers are with her, too. I have some illness with an estranged family member, too, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love them or that I’m not praying for them. Prayers for you, too.

@CarolDM I understand. I'm estranged from my dad and every now and then get updates from his sisters (my aunts) and it is always very awkward.

She came to the right person to talk to and to cry on to. She must be filled with anguish. I wish for her peace and grace while she goes through this difficult time with health. I wish for strength and peace for you, too.

This test will be hard on her. It sounds like she may be facing a long haul, possibly she has some regrets about the estrangement in general, and is trying to make amends as she also tries to deal with the illness. I hope it all turns out well. As you said, thoughts are with her, despite the past.

Whenever I hear something like this I think of the saying, "It is the practice of medicine and the doctors practice on us!" I hope they find out what's wrong!
