Our kettle has given up the ghost.

It's been on the way out for a while now.
It started off stopping and starting now and then. Then it started doing it more often and for longer periods of time.
Yesterday it wasn't working when I tried to make my tea. But I turned it on and off again and it worked. It was stopping and starting as usual but at least it boiled. And I managed to have some tea this morning, it was working on and off as usual.
But then a few minutes ago my step-dad tried to have a hot drink with his lunch and it was dead. It would not do a thing. Not even the light on the switch would come on. He switched it on and off and on and off several times but nothing happened.
We were thinking of getting a new kettle yesterday in the big Tesco but we ended up not bothering. Maybe we should have done. But the shopping cost a lot already.
Now we're thinking of getting one tomorrow from Wilko when I go down town. Well, I'll be getting one. Mum probably won't be coming. I'll let you know how I get on.

@sharonelton I have seen many that look pretty now. We do not have one, as we do not drink tea.

Mum wants me to try and get a Russell Hobbs or Morphy Richards cordless kettle. I'm going to do my best.

@LadyDuck We've got a new kettle now. My Mum says it looks like a pineapple but it's grey! It's really nice.

I used to have one that glowed blue or red depending on if it was boiling - in spain we get so much limescale they dont last that long

Wow! I'd like a kettle like that! We've had this kettle a while so it's had a good run.
