I had a much loved cat from late 1982 until spring of 1995, his name was The Doctor. (Guess what show I was into then?) After we moved house in January 1984, he decided he wanted to go outside - thankyouverymuch. He was a big boy and I had him fixed at 5 months because he was already fighting. I swear Doctor had a lot of abscesses. One time they had to shave the side of his face to stitch up a new abscess and you could see where a previous one was. I called him Frank-en-kitty. Of course, I lost him in 1995. In 2008 I got this beautiful Siamese boy with some kind of weird, Mexican wrestler's name. He also had about 8 or 10 stitches down his left shoulder that the idiot former owners hadn't had taken out because they were afraid it would cost them more money. The lady who acted as our 'matchmaker' for this cat had previously given me her pregnant Siamese who was a full sister to the boy. I also walked off with an young, orange cat that turned out to be hers. Anyway, we named him Frankenkitty and called him Frankie. I took him to my vet, they had to take him in the 'back' and he screamed as they snipped those stitches off. I kid you not, he'd had them so long there was fur growing back... Normally I never reuse a name, but it really wasn't Doctor's name, just a name I called him sometimes.

Poor kitty, how can people be so horrible, it costs very little to have them removed. Bad, bad owner.

It wouldn't have cost anything to have the stitches out, if they had taken him back to their vet... But Frankie got a great new home, and we were thrilled with the couple who got him.

@LadyDuck well, I paid my vet to remove the stitches because they were so embedded.

@ElicBxn - Exactly, the vet removes the stitches for free... also the doctor removed my husband's stitchies without asking money.

Well, we'd've made him a good owner too, but he needed to be adored as a one and only, not a one in many.

The poor Kitty had to have the stitches taken out after that long of time. That was not right at all. I would consider that a bad owner.

And, yeah, it was why the lady got them to give him to me.
