The effect of pruning

We have been busy doing some renovations in our garden and one activity was to trim down plants which is normally done just after the monsoon. There is a technique for doing it correctly and apparently we seem to have done it correctly. This Ixora that you see in the picture is the result of pruning. We have done that to other plants as well.

I think Ixora is called santan here in my country. I don't know how to prune

You should keep a few branches and not prune the entire plant

I agree that there are right and wrong ways to prune trees and bushes. If you prune some back too much, they might die while others can stand hard pruning.
