Maybe I should crochet zombie dolls

The photo isn't a zombie doll, just in case you are wondering.
I wrote about crocheting finger puppets and how difficult it was to put eyes, nose and mouth on the face part so that the face looked pleasant and not like a zombie. MyLotter Marilyn (@Marilynda1225) said that zombies might be quite popular nowadays and she is probably right. The little dolls and puppets we’re making are all being done by ladies of grandmother age. They are all cute and pretty (the dolls, I mean but the ladies are too really!) but maybe today’s child wants something more outlandish.
However, I can’t really see myself suggesting zombie dolls to the handicraft group. Where these are going, I guess such items will be in such short supply that the children will be grateful for anything, whether zombies or cute.
The photo is of a rag doll my sister-in-law made. The arrangement of doll and wine, etc, is by several of her brothers.

I was going to ask if you were getting the doll in the photo drunk for something particular reason or just for the fun of it.

The expression on that doll's face suggests that she's only halfway through the bottle...

Fashions change, don't they, especially in kids' toys.

The doll is adorable. I could not make myself do zombies. It would feel like a poor use of my time.

I think I'd feel that way too. Hopefully, if a child has no toys, they'll be pleased to have any sort of doll.

I don't know what type of small dolls might be knit by the elderly these days as I've not gone to any craft shows in years of they are even still done.
If the dolls are going to initialed countries they will be happy for anything, I'm sure.

The ones I've seen are lovely but in pretty colours and now I'm wondering if today's kids like other kinds. But I'm sure, if a little child has no toys at all, they will love the dolls.

Hmm, not a bad thought. Or maybe your dolls are just the Amish version :-) We used to travel to the southern US when I was younger more Amish and Mennonite religion there - and some of them believed it wrong to have dolls etc with faces.
The rag doll is cute. ha ha, her brothers thought the doll should have a drink.

@JudyEv Oh yes... I agree. I don't see the harm a face does but I think they considered it to be a "graven image" if it had a face

@58lordstreet There certainly wouldn't be very many of them around so yes, maybe they'd become highly collectible.

That doll has an adorable expression on her face. Since you tagged Samaritan's Purse, I bet some of the dolls are going to Ukraine and other places in need. May God bless those crafters for their pretty creations.

That rag doll really is cute and seems as if she's old enough to drink
I'm still laughing at the idea of zombie puppets even though it's not practical but I have a silly side to me sometimes. it's wonderful that the group making the dolls and puppets give them to children in need, It's easy to forget that all children don't have lots of toys

@JudyEv I bet those children are happy when they get their shoe-box. How are your finger puppets coming along? Were you able to figure out the eyes?

@Marilynda1225 I have about four bodies done but am putting off doing the faces. I'll have to tackle them soon.

There is a 'list' of what needs to go in the shoe-boxes. It includes a hygiene item (toothbrush, comb, soap) and others I can't remember. Most boys get some marbles and girls perhaps hair accessories. Beanies, soft toys and finger puppets are, I guess, mainly for the littlies although beanies could be any age.
