OK now I have to ask, What is the strangest topping you have heard of on a pizza??

I think that sauerkraut as mentioned in the previous discussion beats my previous strangest topping which was mac and cheese. I have heard of things like lobster clams and other things being on pizza. I think I have also heard of a pear gorgonzola pizza, which isn't super strange but still. What unusual or strange pizza topping have you heard of?

I know cheese is the main ingredient in pizza, but l might try one with peanut butter instead.

Cheese is not the main ingredient on a real Italian pizza, there is always very little cheese and the "Marinara" has no cheese at all, tomato sauce, capers, garlic, black olives.

I really don't think anything is really all that strange on a pizza, after all it's a type of flatbread which can be used to support just about anything you could think of. What do you think of the bbq chicken pizza?

They are OK but not my favorite. The ones I have had aren't spicy and I like spice. I prefer just regular ol barbecued chicken.

@rebelann I like spinach alfredo, and one of my favorite pizzas is spinoccoli, spinach and brocoli on a pizza yum.

When it came out I thought oh yuck cuz I don't like bbq chicken plus I'd always stuck to the traditional pepperoni type pizzas. I have a friend who loves that spinach alfredo type pizza, can't get into that one either. I suppose pizza is one of those dishes that can be made to suit just about anyone's idea of tasty.

Long ago a bunch of "normal" ingredients of today used to sound strange. I thought marinated artichoke was weird, but now I love it. I though cilantro was weird, but it goes well with a Mexican ingredient pizza. I just looked at our local pizza menu and they have an A-1 Angus Steak pizza!

By snowy @snowy22315 I wish I had an answer but to me what you said about the toppings you mentioned I find them not to my liking on a pizza but everyone has their own taste in food and pizza is one of them. I like green olives, regular pizza and onion pizza.

The weirdest for me is shawarma pizza, shawarma is a middle eastern and Turkish food most probably introduced by Filipino overseas workers and it became very popular here. Now some wise guy ( most probably also a Filipino) decided to make it into toppings and Shawarma pizza became an instant hit , tastes good in an odd and weird way.

There is a place in the city that offers Indian pizza. I always wondered what the toppings were on that.

@snowy22315 I would guess it's most likely with curry. Shawarma sauce is really weird, it's like a mix of sour cream and mayo with unknown spices but leans towards the garlicky side giving it a peculiar smell, lots of chopped onions. It's delicious once you learn how to eat it you would probably even have a craving for it, then combine it with your own pizza craving

I think of ketchup as strange, mayo too. Speaking of mayo, I've seen and eaten pizzas with eggs. Sauerkraut is not that strange to me, pickled veggies aren't uncommon. Mac and cheese is just wrong, only a fool would add carbs to carbs... though I like fries on my pizza, I shouldn't judge.

Ketchup would be strange..I mean it doesnt have any spice. I have seen and actually eaten breakfast pizza with eggs. It was good. That's right you shouldn't judge. it is a small amount of mac and cheese so fries would be just as bad.

Pear and Gorgonzola is not that bad, we make risotto with Gorgonzola and pear, good pairing. In Sweden, the cover the pizza with ham, curry powder, cheese, and bananas, I think this is weird. I have heard of pizza topped with sushi.

@snowy22315 I thought it was the worst until I tried it. I was 10 years old and it took a while to work up enough nerve to take that first bite but I'm glad I did.

We were at a pub-like place in Jamaica one time, the pizza smelled good there and we were considering ordering one. Just then a pizza was delivered to the table next to us and it was a regular baked pizza, looked normal to me, but the entire top of it was covered with raw oysters! Lost my appetite. Just, NO.

Oh wow, no Thanks, I am afraid to eat raw oysters they can cause problems. Also although I love it, one time many years ago I got sick from sushi. Fortunately, it never happened again.
