Celebrations and Mother's day

Yesterday it was my kids catecism celebration, my daughter received her first Bible (Word celebration) and my son received a necklace with a cross and a candle that symbolizes the light of life (Life celebration).
We went to church all morning, the celebrations were beautiful.
We also celebrated Mother's Day, first Sunday of May, and the children had one flower to give to all mothers that were at the church. I received 2 flowers. 
I gave my mom an orchid, a not so common one but also more expensive but I am okay with that as my mom deserves everything.
We had planned to went to a restaurant but on Saturday we decided to do the lunch at home as all the restaurants I contacted were full.
It was a good Sunday, a special one for us.

I'm glad everything went well for the celebrations and am sure the dinner at home was better than anything you could have gotten in a restaurant.
Mother's Day in the US is May 8th. But my mother passed in 2002. Depending on how crowded the cemetery is, we'll go put flowers on mom's grave that afternoon or on Monday afternoon.

@DaddyEvil Yes, they were, I made chocolate mousse and pudding cake for dessert and they loved it.

I didn't know about catecism. Thanks for sharing it. The gifts your kids received are really meaningful. Do the children have catecism celebration every year, or just once?
We celebrate Mothers' Day in the second Sunday of May. It's different from yours.

They have a catecism celebration every year until they are 15, then they do the Confirmation and end the catecism. These celebrations are very beautiful.
It seems only my country celebrate in the fist Sunday of May.

Here we celebrate Mother's day on the second Sunday of May, but last Sunday, May the 1st, was my mother's birthday... close enough perhaps. 
I still don't know what to gift her but I told her to choose. We went to the restaurant the day before, then on Sunday we ate the cake at home.

That sounds like a lovely day. How old are your kids?
I feel the same way about my mom :-) She deserves everything. We will celebrate mother's day this coming Sunday. I have some gifts for her and we'll go out for brunch
