Being a Google (Maps) reviewer or a tourist guide. No rewards, right?

Not sure how I ended there but being bothered by bad service and by some, I hope not all, establishments, stores and other, I found myself on Google Maps, then giving a couple of reviews, becoming a tourist guide in this way, for my country. And, not forget to mention, the most important part is I thought they will pay something to me. There are only points involved and alleged rewards from partners. What partners? I am in this alone. Anyway, it's good venting and my review is raw and true. Are you a part of this community? P.s. Not advertising Google!

Yes, I am. And, no all you get bragging rights for being a top reviewer, and climb the ranks as it were.

@moonandstars That's one way to look at it, yes. You also get to know your reviews help people decide what is good and isn't about a place.

@kaylachan well,for one store i reviewed, people were right; it makes you feel you're not the only one who thinks like that.

@moonandstars That's fine. Since you've already contributed, that's a good thing.

that is true. and everyone likes when others do it but won't do it by themselves; thinking of big corporation and employers.

It doesn't seem worth the time and effort if there's no pay involved.

Nope! I'm part of the Waze community. (Waze is an app that allows a person to help other people by noting obstacles along a planned route, changes to the roads, bridges or places along the route. It also allows a person to talk to someone along the route in another vehicle going the same or different direction you're going right from the app itself.) I've been using Waze since 2010. If a person is in an area that isn't well used by other people in the Waze community, a photo can be taken of a new business or location, the type of location the photo shows described and added to the community. I've done that a lot over the years.

No, but one time I left a review about a restaurant on a site and they emailed me about my review. Long story short, I ended up getting a 20.00 giftcard to go and check them out again. Not quite sure the second time was better than the first..but it wasn't bad.

I avoid Goole if possible. But I have used their maps. I never trust reviews.
