More Moving Today!

Today we took the cargo trailer to our house in Louisiana to load it up. This trailer is 16 ft long minus the hitch, so a good size for loading up. We got a late start because 1) we are both tired, 2) we couldn't get moving this morning, 3) we are sore and both having back issues now from all the movement and lifting that has been going on in the past week. Today's accomplishments: Hubby worked on getting things off the carport like his tools, etc. He still didn't move the big tool box. I worked inside and packed a few boxes up. I also toted trash to the curb for pickup tomorrow. It's the first Saturday of the month so bulk pickup will be done. We had a nice little pile happening before we left. I also packed up a parrot cage, a rocking chair that has been in my family since I was a baby. It was the rocking chair my mother used to rock me in when I was a baby. It will need a little repair done to it as a dowel is missing and one of the arms has come undone. It shouldn't be too complicated of a fix for the hubby to get done. I just have to get him started on the project! I also packed up an old sewing machine that my paternal grandmother left to me when she passed away. It needs a good dusting and wood treatment done to the cabinet to have it back in tip top shape. We didn't even fill half of the trailer, but we also did not get in the attic either. I am hoping that Ashley can come on Monday to help out with the attic. She is off work then. Making progress, so that is good. How was your day? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

You still got a lot loaded up. I have mom and dads old rocker thats missing a dowel in the back. It will stay that way, especiall since my Monster got her head stuck on it a couple of years ago You might remember this one

@wolfgirl569 Our rockers look identical except for the head panel. Mine does not have the arches on both sides--just full wood there. Yep, hard headed kids don't respect other people's property. They will pay one day.

Oh wow! There was nothing wrong with mine until it stayed at the house and lived with one of the girls and her bf for a couple of years. They obviously didn't take care of it at all.

You are doing well, I hope you can move more stuff with the big trailer today. You mentioned the sewing machine and now I regret I did not bring home the old sewing machine of my mother, it was better than mine.

My husband was asking me last night if this one even worked. I haven't tried it since I got it because he bought me a new sewing machine after we got married. I will have to test it out- when I get a breather!!

@kareng - I remember that my Mom used her sewing machine, so I am sure it worked.

@LadyDuck This one worked way back when, but no idea if it works now. And if broken, I am sure parts are not available.

Today is a bit disappointing to me. I wanted to go a clothes store to have a look at the uniform I like. We didn't go there as my wife preferred staying at home taking care of her flower garden.

This was an old post. I hope that everything is finished now and you can rest up from your labors? It's great that you were able to save family heirlooms.
