"Penny Lane" was released in 1967 and was written by the duo of Lennon and McCartney. It was on a double A sided single with "Strawberry Fields". Penny Lane is a street in Liverpool; and McCartney makes mention in the song of the sights and people that he saw growing up. Paul said: "Penny Lane" was kind of nostalgic, but it was really [about] a place that John and I knew ... I'd get a bus to his house and I'd have to change at Penny Lane, or the same with him to me, so we often hung out at that terminus, like a roundabout.
