I think if I was asked what was my favorite vintage movie I would have to say "Harvey"(1950) with James Stewart and Josephine Hull. It is one that I love dearly. He is such an unassuming gentleman and James does an astounding job as Elwood P. Dowd. His pal, the pooka, Harvey, is the best of invisible friends a guy could have. Josephine Hull does such a good job portraying his sister, Veta. The storyline is that his family thinks Dowd is crazy because he has this invisible rabbit for a friend. The fifties also brought such greats such as: "Some Like It Hot"(1959), "North By Northwest"(1959) with Cary Grant, and The Day The Earth Stood Still(1951) an all-time favorite of mine with Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal, "The King and I" with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr, "Cinderella"(1950), and "An Affair to Remember"(1957) Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. Not sure what my next post on this subject will be.

I love all the sci-fi movies from the 50s...even the bad ones.

If it weren’t for the bad ones we never would have had Mystery Science Theater 3000!!

@FourWalls The bad ones are actually some of my favorites -- Plan 9 from Outer Space is one of them.

@LindaOHio ......Oh, yeah. The old sci-fi movies are probably full of them. And, the special effects are laughable as well.

YES!!!!!!! The Day the Earth Stood Still is my favorite sci-if movie! And Harvey! And Sunset Boulevard is amazing. The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur are the best “epic” films, too! All from the 50s!

Oh, yes indeed. The Day The Earth Stood Still is great. Harvey is a must-see for me in the next few days. I don't care for the religious ones.

I remember the scene of the movie in your picture "The day the earth stood still - 1951". "North By Northwest" is one of my favorite and well as Anastasia with Yul Brynner.

Yes. "Anastasia" was a great movie. If I listed all my favorites I probably wouldn't have room.
