I am not really a big fan of grits, but I will eat them sometimes just for a change of pace. Last week I was in Publix and in their case of prepared foods they had grits with cheese. I have never had anything from Publix that didn't taste good, so I bought them. I had them with eggs last night and I have to say they were superb. If all grits were this good, I would be a grits fan for life. I know Publix is only in Southern states currently, but they are on the move, so even if you live in the North one may be coming to your area at some point. Yum, great grits.

I had grits in Georgia, the best I had were in Atlanta, with eggs, for breakfast. I used to go to Publix in Florida and I really liked this store.

It's a good store, that and Wegmans have really good food, but unless you are buying the store brand, in products, in general you are paying a third more for things. I buy their brand, actually there are only a few specific things I like to buy there. They do have sometimes for 2 for 1 specials though.

@snowy22315 I liked their brand. I remember I used to bring back to Europe their pure vanilla extract that costed one third than the more known brands and it was excellent. Here in Europe pure vanilla extract is incredibly expensive.

@LadyDuck Really? I bought some in Mexico once. It was cheap there. I guess the closer you go to the equator the less it is. I am sure they produce it locally there.

I live below the Mason-Dixon and absolutely love grits. I've fed them to a lot of Yankees who also fell in love with them when they were served right. Grits should be buttered and salted with a long enough cook time that they aren't grainy. I've found most people who aren't familiar with grits think they should add sugar or honey or syrup and even milk, not so. Although a very few people do like them that way. They are much better as a savory dish. Cheese grits are awesome, add in some crumbled bacon and scrambled eggs and you have a breakfast fit for a king.

Grits are very unique to your country and from what I understand areas in the south. I have never had them, nor seen them on a menu.

I have never seen them served up North actually, although probably somewhere like NYC you could get them.

Believe it or not, but I have never eaten grits, I don't even know what they look like.

I believe it. They arent served North of the Mason Dixon line to the best of my knowledge, unless maybe you go to something like a restaurant that specializes in Southern Cuisine or something.

I brought home several packages of grits when I visited the states recently. We can’t buy them in Canadian grocery stores. I have ordered from Amazon, but they are pricey.
