The recruiter would ask you do you have experience in this that software. So yes I know about this software, I studied it, practiced a demo account. I am good at accounting and bookkeeping but since it is a computer programmed question you cant explain this you are limited to yes or no. I assume if it is a no then they will skip your application. So how then am I going to gain experience if they dont give me a job and how do I get a job if I dont have experience

In circumstances like that where I have some experience I select yes. If they want someone with 10 years experience for example they should put a question there to reflect that want and not be lazy.

Hmm I wonder if the interview once I reach that state would get annoyed for wasting his time. But yes good idea. I might try that next time

@yoalldudes It'll teach him to be more proactive in his screening process. See youre already helping the company. They should pay you for that.

You're right. You couldn't have experienced if you aren't hired. But anyone who has undergone a study in college and completed may have an experience for he takes a practicum or field practice as a requirement. So what about you?

I do have 20 years accounting and budget work experience but with the accounting software no actual work experience. I see the importance of the practicum/OJT. You have a point there. Maybe I should try internship in the FVA Academy where I studied the software.

I know, everyone seems to look for young but experienced people these days. Then many people lie in their resume, for a good cause. If I were you, that'd be a straight YES and they can go to hell with their bs questions.

Can you not tell that you practised it on a demo account and gathered enough knowledge to perform at a job now.

That's so true, in my country, we all lie when it comes to questions like these. We tell them yeah we know how to do this and that, and when we get accepted then we start learning.
