Does your house or apartment have a laundry room?

I have one of sorts but it is more like a utility kiosk. The water heater and inside air handler are in there and with the washer and dryer, there isn't room to walk around in there. I do however keep detergents and a few other things in there. It is a good out of the way place for these things. There are doors to close it off, kind of giving the illusion of a room I guess.

So yours is in your house? I have a laundry room in the basement. It has the space for a washer and dryer and some built in cupboards. We also have a bookshelf down there. Not the best place to keep books but the only place the bookshelf would fit. We have a decent amor of space in the room but it's also partially filled with storage and an old desk.

@MarshaMusselman Yes, when my washer broke several months back I had to go to the laundrymat a couple of times. It was kind of interesting because I hadn't been in one for so long, but defintely not that convenient. Also, those washers and dryers cost a fortune!

@snowy22315 that's so much easier than having to take our laundry elsewhere.

Doesn't it make it crowded in there with a big washer?
22 May 22
@snowy22315 It does... But the way house are built by the local builders, they doesn't much think about giving a different space. If you go for a Premium builders, you can expect all small small things are thought of and taken care. Just an update - Such house price are almost doubled the cost of house built by local builder.

We have a laundry room in our house, but it's certainly not like the one you have pictured here. It's a teeny room - washer and dryer of course, with some cabinets and small storage areas. There's a small window and a door that leads to the side of the yard.

My parents have their washer and dryer in the basement, which is not always convenient, but there really isn't room for them elsewhere. Their house is fairly small. I worry about my mom going up and down those stairs. However, so far she is managing.

@snowy22315 We don't have basements here (wish we did!). We were thinking to move the washer and dryer to the garage . . . but even then this "room" wouldn't be good for much except storage or possibly a small computer area. Stairs are hard . . . I'm glad your mom is managing though!

I have a space close to a bathroom where I keep my washing machine and the soap inside the bathroom. I don't have a dryer and don't iron my clothes when at home. I iron my sarees and blouses when I go out.

Dryers aren't as common is many parts of the world as they are here. I do put clothes out to dry once in a while outside, but I don't like how rough they feel when I do that.

@aninditasen Washers and dryers cost roughly the same here, dryers tend to be a little less than washers.

@snowy22315 We have washing machine with dryer in our country which are quite costly and consume lot of electricity for dryers get heated. I use a washing machine with wash tub and spinner/ rinse and dry them in the terrace.

Is it a real room or just an area that houses the washer and dryer? Can you walk around in it?

@snowy22315 Oh. Not totally a room. It's just like an extra place at the back that we've placed our laundry.

It is a very small laundry room attached to the kitchen. There is a little space beside the dryer to store things.

Our laundry room is tiny in the aspect that you cannot walk around in it, but it does house the washer, dryer, deep freezer and a small mini bar fridge. Its a great space for storage and I have a rod where I can hang items to dry on hangers.

Oh mine wouldn't be big enough for a freezer or mini bar. I could put a rod in there if I wanted to.

I do have a laundry room which is a decent size on my second floor. It is handy since it's on the same floor as the bedrooms and bathroom and makes it much easier to do all the laundry. It's big enough to walk in and out of but not huge, There's a nice big storage shelf over the washer and dryer. The only thing missing is a sink which would come in handy at times. My furnace and water heater is in the basement

Most houses in Australia have a laundry. I was very intrigued on my first trip to Ireland to find the washer and dryer in the kitchen. They were part of the cabinetry so didn't really look out of place but apparently such a set-up is pretty standard over there.

My laundry room to is separate from my apt. home, a laundry room just for us, living in our apt. complex. We've 45 apt totally. I believe 2 only unoccupied. 1 is an apt that is damaged by pressure pounding when the business complex got built. Another, my nextdoor, is vacant, but rumblings of new neighbor may be moving in soon, is going on.

I decided to add the washing machine to my very big bathroom. I used to have the dryer there too but I gave it to my daughter. Detergents are kept inside a small closet in the bathroom where I also keep extra toilet paper, soap and shampoo.

Yes, I guess if your bathroom is big enough having washer and dryer in there isn't too bad. It isn't that common here though to have a washer and dryer in the bathroom.

Yes I have a utility room here with a washer and dryer. That was one of my requirements for an apartment--a washer and dryer. I was NOT about to deal with the laundromat.

Yes, most nicer apartments include the washer and dryer, although I know of some apartments that have everything assoicated with them, but not a washer and dryer. That makes no sense to me.
