Elvis was the next artist that I asked you about. I'm not a big Elvis fan; but I know there are a lot of fans out in MyLot land.
"Heartbreak Hotel" was released as a single in 1956 and was written by Tommy Durden and Mae Boren Axton. Presley is also credited for this song. The lyrics were inspired by a newspaper article about a lonely man that jumped from a hotel window. In the song itself, the singer's lover has left him; and he now resides at "Heartbreak Hotel". (see below)
Chet Atkins played guitar and Floyd Cramer played piano on the recording. "Heartbreak Hotel" was Presley's first million seller and one of the best-selling singles of 1956. It reached the top 5 simultaneously on the Country and Western, pop and Rhythm 'n' Blues charts.
Certified double Platinum, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1995; and in 2004 Rolling Stone magazine named it one of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time".
"Well, since my baby left me
Well, I found a new place to dwell
Well, it's down at the end of Lonely Street
At Heartbreak Hotel"

I was never a big Elvis fan. I do enjoy and appreciate his music, but I guess it was just way before my time. My best friend is a huge Elvis fan, he goes to Graceland multiple times every year, and probably owns everything Elvis there is to own.

I was 8 when this song came out. I prefer the music of the 60s and 70s. Good to see you.

@moffittjc That's because you're still a youngster! Are you going to Disney on your Birthday? Or will it be too crowded because it's a holiday?

Mae Boren Axton, Hoyt’s mother. (Hoyt wrote Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the World.”)
Not my favorite Elvis song ever, but it never gets turned off if it comes on the playlist.
