Tiptoe Through the Tulips

That was how the local farm was promoting their tulips. For a mere $10 you could walk through their tulips. For another $10 you could pick 6 to take home with you. We thought this was a bit pricey for the privilege but it takes all kinds. Meanwhile, just a kilometre down the road my son and daughter-in-law have a small market garden. Many people stopped to admire their generous tulip bed. While I was their several children asked for a bouquet which they were given to take home. My son said, the blooms are almost finished. They will only last another day or two after they are picked. Earlier in the season they were selling their tulips at the farmers market for $1 per stem. Next year I expect they will do a much brisker business thanks to the other farms promotion.

Very lovely tulips. Back in the 1990s my relatives in Latvia were selling tulip bulbs and with the money they made they opened a souvenir shop in the capital Riga, Now I think they have about 3 shops, Tulips are good money makers,

I remember the fields full of tulips arriving to the Teamster airport in The Netherlands, beautiful flowers.

@Morleyhunt I have always loved tulips. They are already over here, we had a heatwave the past week.

@Morleyhunt Every little bit helps. It's good to have a few eggs in your basket, so to speak.

Their tulips are very visible to passers by. They plan to double the number for next year.

Wow! What a beautiful flowers. I have never been walking through a blooming tulips. Besides they're rare here in our place. I have walked through a plantation of stately standing sunflowers farm.

That does sound pricey! I like how your son and daughter in law gave the children bouquets - that's generous and parents do remember these things. I hope they will do well in next season's tulip market!

This farmer's prices are too high. Walking thru the tulips should not be at a cost. I will often pick up a dozen fresh cut tulips for $6 in the peak season.

Availability affects the price. Knowing when and how to cut tulips can extend the bloom time.
