I watched a 1942 movie entitled "Keeper of the Flame" this evening with Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. A very good movie about a war correspondent who wants to write an in-depth biography about a war hero who just died in an accident. The death is shrouded in mystery and he is trying to gain access to the widow and other family members to understand the man and what happened. As he probes deeper and finds out more about the man he finally learns that the truth is not at all what he expected. It's the story of a woman who loved the man she married but hated the man he became. This film was very controversial. Some of the actors even had reservations about appearing in the film and its screenwriter was blacklisted. The "keepers of the flame" term pertain to those who deny and conceal facts about famous people. The image is courtesy of Google.
