Summer work

In my job I have the summer off, at least in June and July. It kind of stretches my budget very thin.
A sudden opening came up for part of June and I will be working as a para with a student taking Driver's Education.
I remember this kiddo from when he was at elementary. It is only ten days, three hours a day.
I guess I was the first one to respond to the e mail that the Para manager sent out. The person who was going to do it had a family emergency. I am sorry for her, but I am glad to be able to do it.

@GardenGerty that sounds like a pleasant job. Still leaves lots of free time.

A paraprofessional is a person who works under a supervising teacher to provide educational and other supports to students with disabilities. Not all disabilities are visible. The young man I am helping does not look disabled, but he is dyslexic or ADD or some other form of Learning Disabled.

It is enough to make a difference and is fairly easy.

Are you not paid for June and July?? I an educator and we do get summer vacation and other breaks in the academic year and we enjoy it without being bothered about the budget as we get our salary.
Good that you got this job. What does a para do??

Some teachers choose to have their salary portioned out, but I am not a teacher. More of a teaching assistant to provide direct support to students in the classroom who have disabilities.

What is a para? I'm glad that you get to work with someone you know. Sometime it makes the job a little easier.

A paraprofessional works with students who have disabilities to help them succeed in their classes. The type of disability determines the type of help needed. The student in driver's ed has some reading problems.
