Fridge not fully closed

I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and since I was already up I decided to have a snack.
I was craving for a glass of cold milk and something sweet.
I found a small peanut butter cup type thing in the pantry.
It was delicious together with the cold milk.
Good thing I decided to have a snack because when I went downstairs and into the kitchen I noticed that the fridge door was not fully closed.
Not sure how long it had been that way but had I not gone downstairs it would have been not fully closed until after 10 am probably.
I don't get why the fridge door doesn't fully close by itself when we just give it a little push and wonder if that can be fixed.
Before going to bed I usually always check to make sure the fridge is closed and I did it this time around.
Perhaps hubby used the fridge and then forgot to check that the door was fully closed before going to bed.

@JudyEv But why doesn't it close by itself with just a little push?

@lovebuglena It is a shame to waste electricity, as we have to pay for it.

@LadyDuck And water as well. Hubby can be wasteful with that.

I would not like it if hubby would leave the lights on somewhere. That's being wasteful.

That's possible. Might need to clean it better or save for a new fridge. It should close without help.

Cleaning it doesn't affect how it closes, does it?

@lovebuglena It can. Sometimes small particles can get in the seals, and block the door from closing. It's always good to make sure the seals are clean. As well as making sure it's clean behind anything that can move. It only takes a little, to cause a blockage.

That's been happening to my fridge too lately. I have to make sure it is tightly closed before I go to bed at night.

Is your fridge old? Mine is from the 90s. It still works though, minus the door issue.

I have had that happen before. I am glad you caught it before it ended up open all night.

And one time my mom brought something over to put in my freezer. I had told her to close the freezer door you need to lift it and then push. She must have not done it properly because by the time I noticed the freezer was not fully closed there frozen water droplets all around inside the freezer.

@lovebuglena Well it is because it costs more in electric bill

Even though my fridge door always closes fully it is a habit of mine to press on the door anyway to make sure it is closed,

He claimed it wasn't him. But it had to be him because it clearly wasn't me and there is no one else living in this house.

My fridge makes an irritating noise if we leave it open for more than 2 minutes.

Our fridge beeps if the door is not properly closed. Good that you checked it. Maybe there was something obstructing. It often happens if the fridge is overloaded with stuffs.

It can happen often with our fridge. It is from the 90s. Doesn't have a beeping feature.

Well, we do experience it too. So what we did is to tilt backward a bit so that when we're done using it, when we just push the door lightly it closes.

Since women are perfect it was probably your husband who left the door open.

I asked him about it and he claimed that he didn't. Well, if it wasn't me and it supposedly wasn't him then who was it lol? Only two of us in the house.

Me too, though at around 3 something in the morning I should've been sleeping.

When I lost my work a few years ago, we decided to use the fridge to cook and store the food in it; however, we neglected to lock it correctly and went out of town; unfortunately, there was a power outage, and when we returned, all of the food items stored had gone bad; it was a really sad moment for me.

Oh no! That's terrible. You must have lost a lot of food.
