Today the USA commemorates fallen soldiers

Growing up I'd always received a cloth red poppy on this day. Mom took us to Ft Bliss during the weeks before this day and veterans would be at the doors of the commissary giving away those flowers and asking that we donate to the cause of families of those soldiers who'd given the ultimate gift. I didn't know about this poem at the time but I was just doing a search about the red poppy when I found this poem. I salute all those who perished in those wars and to their families who still mourn them. I copied this poem from the Pioneer Woman. "In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
