I've Lost That Loving Feeling

Yep, I have. I used to enjoy a good romance-type movie. I am just watching one on Hallmark and it is not doing a thing for me. Romance just doesn't do it for me anymore. It seems silly and trivial. I like a good thriller or a mystery or even a documentary on some off-beat subject. I am getting too old for romance I guess.
Do you change what you like to watch??

Maybe I am not normal, but I truly hate those Hallmark romance movies.
Hasn't anyone noticed that so many of them are basically the same? Man or woman with problems or feelings of rejection due to a bad relationship, both end up in a scenic town, they fall for each other but things happen to put their relationship at risk. Then there is often a scene of softly falling snowflakes or maybe a bench by a river or stream, they declare their undying love for each other, forever and forever.
Very predictable. They are, as you say, silly and trivial. Real life isn't like that, no matter what the circumstances.
I love romance. Real romance, with real issues that we can relate to, in a real setting. Maybe a messy kitchen or in a car that doesn't run, or at a little kid's ballgame, or something normal. Hallmark is all fantasy, but many people don't realize that.

I think that one thing I dislike about the Hallmark movies is their predictability. And, yes, life isn't like many of them portray it to be.

We watched the Hallmark channel every evening, for about two year. Now, it seems like all those romance stories are very similar, the outcome is a ditto copy of the last one.

I pretty much feel the same. No twists or turns. Just same old thing over and over.

@celticeagle Those stories are cute, but some of them aren't realistic.

Hallmark and Lifetime movies are all pretty much alike. They don't compare to a romcom like "You've Got Mail". The quality of their movies is just not the same. I do change what I like to watch from time to time.

I don't agree. Lifetime is doing a lot of different types movies. They are coming back with another V.C. Andrews one in July. Enjoy those.

I happen to love watching rom-coms that are funny. But those sappy ones I skip unless the reviews rate them high. Horror movies are cool too, but am not a fan of the gory ones.

I enjoyed "Midnight in Paris" that I wanted a few weeks back. But, it was very unusual. I am not a fan of gory horror either.

@celticeagle Unusual in what way? The title seems scary enough.

@ihasaquestion ........Scary? Unusual in that it is a fantasy, not the usual romance.

Yes, as I get older, I don't enjoy romance-type movie that much. But I don't mind watching Somewhere in Time, The Ghost again.

Somewhere in Time is a favorite of mine. Period piece plus time traveler. Great!

I enjoy Hallmark movies mostly at Christmas time even though they are all predictable.
I've gotten more into mystery/thriller and I've become a "reality" tv junkie (Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race, 90 Day Fiancé)

Me too romance has no appeal to me anymore as far as movies are concerned. I would rather prefer watching action-packed movies, adventure, scifi.

I like British mysteries a lot. They have my kind of humour.
