Single Use Products

Are you trying to get away from using single-use products for the sake of our planet? I have been getting many of the same products but then I try to get refills and use the same original bottles. For instance, the hand soap liquid we use. Rechargeable batteries may cost more than the regular single-use ones but if they are used properly they can save us a lot of money. My grandson has a battery charger and we try to only use the type of batteries(mostly AA and AAA, but also C or D)that can be recharged and we understand this can be done hundreds of times. We did find some interesting information in a recent Consumer Report article on the subject. It states that the rechargeable type of batteries are more sustainable than the disposables "only after you've used them at least 50 times." I wonder if this even makes sense? I guess some of us use some batteries that many times. But, like the size C and D, I don't think we would use them that much. Now with the AA and AAA sizes, we would use them even more than the 50 recharges. What do you think?

Yes, I'm doing my best to become less dependent on paper products so now I wash face cloths a lot as I use those instead of paper towels. I only use the white ones for cleaning and the colored ones are for me when I shower. I don't really use a lot of batteries so that isn't something that would save me much.

It's really easy but then the other side of that coin is water usage. If it isn't one thing its another.

Do you use hankies? I don't anymore but did when I was a kid. I would have had to pull out five this morning, my allergies were that bad.

I used to get Kleenex but now use toilet tissue instead. Trying to save where I can. Allergies are awful this year. I even have a cough I attribute to allergies.

Yes, it's beneficial for our planet to use reusable items. That's the reason I don't use plastic bags as they are thrown after using them once or twice. Instead of these polybags, I use cloth bags to carry things.

ive been meaning to buy some AA and AAA rechargeables. and some of the c and d battery converters/adapters. only downside to that is that i think is each one takes 3 aa batteries or 3 aaa batteries.

So they take batteries themselves? Sort of weird.

We don't use rechargeable batteries but we do reuse plastic bags that we get from the store.
