"It's Now or Never" was released in 1960 and was written by Wally Gold and Aaron Schroeder (Lyrics) and Eduardo di Capua (Music).
The single sold 20 million copies and is one of the best-selling singles of all time. Presley's version of the song was inspired by "There's No Tomorrow" recorded by Tony Martin (1949) and "O Sole Mio" (Music by di Capua).
The premise of the song is that the singer wants his lover's love tonight:
"Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait..."
The song reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the US Singles (Cash Box) and #7 on the US Billboard Hot R&B Sides chart.
