I am watching a marathon of "Doomsday Preppers" on the National Geographic Channel. It is really interesting. Families set up preparations for their families for emergencies such as terrorist attacks, geopolitical turmoil, economic collapse, war, and nuclear strikes. Their different priorities and decisions on what they will need are very interesting. In this series, they show the family's preparedness, and then they are scored on Food, water, shelter, security, and x-factors such as bartering expertise, etc. How long what they have prepared will sustain them. I would like to do something like this but, have no place to store things. We do have a very small storage area between this apartment and the next. I would at least like to have some water and beans stored. I could live on beans for a long time. Oh, and I would like to have some toilet paper saved up. I already have one entire shelf filled with it. Have you ever thought of something like this and, if so, what would your priorities be?

My home has food in reserve in case of a national emergency since my relatives and myself had to deal with the effects of Hurricane Laura in 2020 which knocked electrical power for one month.

In a weird way, I felt like a prepper when this whole pandemic stay-at-home orders kicked in . I do think it's awesome to be able to sustain and survive . . . but these people certainly take it to the extreme!

My husband thinks along those lines. We have water and a lot of canned foods.

We all need some extra things to fall back on. Some non perishable foods, flashlights and batteries, water, vitamins, over the counter meds. Hard to plan ahead on prescriptions. I am also of the opinion that everyone needs a weather radio with USB ports, battery powered but hopefully have the solar option, and so forth. Storm damage, grid goes down, whatever. It's just something that will give you a bit of peace about losing power.

A weather radio would be good to have on hand.
