Bringing the Beach to You

As it would be one of the hottest days in our Valley, we took an early morning 1/2 hour drive to the beach. A seaside break is what the family needed.
Will Rogers State Beach was the perfect place. There weren't many people so we enjoyed our couple hours in the hazy coolness. We left just as the crowds were coming in
.
I remembered a few years ago, I promised @changjiangzhibin89 a photo/post of the beach "from here". So here is an updated photo for him from today's trip
.
Have you hit the beach yet? If not, here is a bit of beach for you, too.

@rebelann Ah, the water levels sound low like it is everywhere else it seems (darn this drought and climate change schtuff!). Yah, I'm not into super long drives either . . . and then there is also the ride home on top of that.

Elephant Butt is about 170 miles or so north of us more or less but I'm not much for driving that far anymore. It's a man made lake in New Mexico and from what I've read it's very low these days due to Colorado not getting enough snow in the winters.

That looks great! I go to the beach at the lake. I am not sure I will make it to the ocean this year with the price of gas. Last time I went I got in terrible traffic on the way back as well, what a pain! I might go to a beach on the Chesapeake Bay though.

I'm watching a live streaming cam from Clearwater Beach, Florida and listening to Jimmy Buffett. It's a good substitute.

Well that's good . . . no traveling bumps including traffic and crazy crowds to deal with . . . I can go for that . . . in fact I just got a peek from your link just now . . . now I'm "there" too

@shaggin Oh thank you - I don't mind telling you here. Remember how we once said recently that this site is a private place for us? I was venting a lot in the past . . . so I just decided if I ever leave this planet, I don't want anyone finding out that I actually wrote about them
- particularly family
. Private stuff will stay private this way.
Oh, snow flurries
! We had rain all day - it's amazing to us since it's been eons it was ever like this. Stay warm out there!

Secret: I deleted almost all of them recently - personal reasons. But I will try to post more in time.
I'm sure in time it will get too warm . . . how is the weather out by you? We're supposed to get hit by hard rain this weekend - it's just dry and gray this morning.

Thanks for the beach photo! You can never go wrong with a picture of the ocean!
I haven't been to the beach in a few months. With summer here in Florida in full swing, it's just too hot and humid to be at the beach. Plus, the ocean waters are starting to get really warm as well, so the water doesn't even cool you off when you go for a swim. It's like swimming in a bathtub!
I probably won't go to the beach again until the fall when things cool off again.
Was the water there really cold? I remember a few times I was in San Francisco during the summer, and the ocean water was still very cold.

Wow, the water gets that warm? I would actually probably like it
- the water here seems to be freezing to me (I am weak to cold
). Yah, San Francisco water is probably colder than here - it's generally cooler out there period. I hope you can get to the beach when the temps are just right!

@moffittjc Ah, that makes sense. I guess that is why we do not get hurricanes on this side.

@much2say The ocean water temps can get into the mid to upper 80s, sometimes higher in the shallow areas. It’s that warm water that fuels hurricane activity and rapid intensification of storms.

We were thinking we'd hit up the beach more often this year - but still going early to avoid the crazy crowds. We have to be mindful of those insane gas prices though - and people being worse than ever about pretending everything is back to normal

@DianneN We hit up the beach more times since then . . . the crowds are getting worse (it seems no one cares about covid anymore - we still do). What are the gas prices there? Lowest here seems to be about 4.19 at the moment. Can't getaway from all these bills

It was in 2020 March I last visited the Puri beach in India and lost my husband the same year in November. Since then I have never been to the beach.

@aninditasen A few times we were able to go to secluded beaches early in the morning during the pandemic . . . there was no way we were going to crowded beaches at that time. There are more festival activities now too - we avoid anywhere where there will be too many people. I do hope you get to visit the beach again soon.

@much2say Yes, that's the beach. It's long time I haven't visited the beach due to the pandemic and it's not possible now because of the rush in that city due to festivals.

@changjiangzhibin89 People here go to the beach all year round . . . it is a beach culture. I'm sure tourists make it even more crowded . . . that is why we go during off times.

I've not been to the beach in years and the beaches nearest us are currently non-existent. A couple of years ago two dams broke because they weren't being maintained properly. It caused two lakes to dwindle down to barely a stream of water. One day they'll have lakes there again but it will take five more years to rebuild the dams.

A beach scene is always a beautiful sight to behold. My favorite place to be and yes, I have hit the beach this year. It was a 90-degree day the week before Memorial Day and no crowds. Plan on a return trip Monday

I know you're a beach dude
. The beach is much more enjoyable when there are less people - no crowd is best. Our beaches do tend to get nuts (not to mention the roads to get there too) - we try to stay away from all that. Ohhhh, enjoy your beach trip tomorrow

@much2say Thanks I did. The weather was not as nice a bit overcast at times but because it was before school is out no crowds. A nice day of quiet solitude reading a magazine and listening to my music
