Gift/party bags continued

This year as usual we had a last-minute rush, and remembering the usual stressful fiddlyness of the paper bag-making, combined with the fact that I had been passing all my gardening magazines on to an interested friend so had fewer pretty pictures to use, as well as seeing some fabric gift bags, I had an ‘Aha!’ moment.
Keep something for long enough and you will find a use for it, they say… here was the perfect use for two pairs of old jeans I had saved ‘just in case’.
A bit of rummaging around in my sewing cabinet yielded some useful pieces of tape and cord and some coloured felt.
Then it was literally the work of minutes to sew the top and bottom of each bag, and attach a strap of some sort. Meanwhile Little One designed and cut out a felt flower shape and together we attached one to each bag with a simple X in embroidery thread.
I hoped these would prove useful enough that they wouldn’t be thrown out immediately. Each one was big enough to hold the end-of-party gifts – a paperback book (from a bargain set), some fruity shower gel and a small packet of sweets.
Of course it helps that the party will only involve six friends, I’m not sure I would be so keen if I had to make 30!

That was a good idea! I wish I had thought of something like that when Pretty was small and we had parties for her and her friends every time we turned around.

Those bags look really great. What a clever idea. I really wish I could sew a bit more. I could manage these but my machine isn't cooperating at the moment. Something is going on with the bobbin so I'm giving it a rest.
Do you think that might fix it?

Thank you.
Strangely enough, you never know. I've had odd things happen then next time I use it it's been fine.
I have been wondering whether I should buy a new machine. This one was a present for my 16th birthday and it has certainly earned its keep. But now we need a lot of new curtains, new chair covers etc. A new machine would be expensive but still cheaper than paying someone else to make curtains! I guess I will see if I can get this one serviced first and see how it goes.

You're very creative. I love doing works of art like you did and they are very cute and dainty.

How did it occur to you that used the old jeans to make them ? Looks nice ! Nowhere to buy them !

I've noticed that. And you're welcome.
