"Return to Sender" was performed in the movie "Girls! Girls! Girls!" and released in 1962. It was written by Winfield Scott and Otis Blackwell.
Scott and Blackwell had sent a demo to a record company which was returned to them and marked "Return to sender! No such person! No such zone!". Blackwell and Scott used those phrases as lyrics for "Return to Sender" which is about a failing relationship between a spiteful woman and a heartbroken man.
The record reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the US Cash Box and US Music Vendor charts. It was certified Platinum for sales in the US exceeding 1 million records.

I worked at the post office when they issued the first Elvis stamp (the 29c one). I bought a sweatshirt with that stamp on it, and underneath it it had “return to sender.” And you would not believe how many letters came through the post office with bogus addresses on it just so the envelope (with an Elvis stamp, of course) could be marked “return to sender.” 
Oh, and I love the song.

@LindaOHio He was so popular when I was a teen and I saw all his movies in the theater. I remember enjoying them but don't know if they would be as good now. Maybe one of these days I'll see if I can find one
