"Kentucky Rain", released in 1970, was written by Eddie Rabbit and Dick Heard and features Ronnie Milsap on piano. It was certified Gold after US sales of more than a million copies. The song hit #12 on the Cash Box Top 100 and #16 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. The B side featured "My Little Friend".
"Kentucky Rain" tells the story of an anxious lover searching for his missing love as he walks and hitchhikes through the "cold Kentucky rain".
"Seven lonely days and a dozen towns ago
I reached out one night and you were gone
Don't know why you'd run, what you're running to or from
All I know is I want to bring you home."

A favorite Elvis tune of mine Eddie Rabbit co-writer of the song seems to enjoy the rain. He recorded his own rain song, I love a Rainy Night, in 1980. It did a little better than Elvis's Kentucky Rain hitting #1 the Hot 100, Country and Adult Contemporary charts.

How long ago did he pass away? I don't remember it.
He was very popular in my country.
