Daisies are actually two flowers in one. The petals are counted as one while the central disc is considered another. And there are at least 43 different varieties ranging from asters to calendulas to echinacea to gerberas to yarrow and zinnias.

I haven't seen any daisies like that. They are cool looking. The only one I am familiar with besides the regular white daisies are Brown Eyed Susans.

Are brown eyed susans also considered a type of daisy? I wonder if the coneflower is also one of the varieties.

@MarshaMusselman I think brown eyed Susan's are just a color variation of a daisy.

The look like Daisies to me my friend.
Bit what I know about flowers you could write on the back of a postage stamp and still have a lot of space left.

Oshy, those are cone flower, echinacea as someone mentioned. In the wild they are that pretty purple shade or white. Those are the ones that are most medicinally potent. They have developed many hybrids as well that are all shades of pink, and reddish and almost a chartreuse. They are hardy and drought resistant wild flowers. I do not know if they are actually in the daisy family or not. I have some of these. I also have some Shasta daisies, they ones with the bright yellow center and white petals.

@RebeccasFarm I'm sure she's right. Most things with a centre and petals round it I call them daisies.

Now I have to look around a little closer . . . I can't remember if I've seen these purple ones! I know I've seen the yellow and white . . . and the white with little purple streaks in them. We have a yellow daisy variety trying to grow in the back.
