This documentary from Netflix was very enlightening.
An African American college student is setting up some application for a class and finds that AI(Artificial Intelligence) won't pick up her face until she puts a white mask on.
Bias really creeps into technology.
We all probably know about adware and how it finds what our preferences are online. Well, the technology this woman detected goes much deeper.
Unconscious bias is set up in all areas of technology today. It seems that algorithms are set up to pick out lighter-skinned people more often than darker-skinned ones. So many people are discriminated against due to appearance and they don't even know it is going on.
This happens in all areas. Algorithms are set up to pick the lighter-skinned person. People in many sectors, such as employment and college picks, are being affected by these algorithms and they have no way of correcting it. People have little or no idea this is happening and have no reprisal. There is no accountability and no appeal.
Your thoughts.

History mostly. The algorithms are written by some men who have biased attitudes and may not even realize it. You really should see the documentary.

@Nakitakona ........So true. So they need to figure a way that those don't get into the AI.

@celticeagle No wonder. Every history written has biases from the author.

The algorithm needs an urgent update, I guess.
